Insta360 App: Connect a Wide-angle Camera to Insta360 App for Live Streaming

Via the Insta360 app, you can easily control your camera to start a live stream in various streaming scenarios, such as outdoor activities and daily life sharing. This article describes the steps to start a live stream with your camera, methods for network setup via Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot, and answers to common questions about live streaming preparations and troubleshooting, helping you get started quickly.
Version Requirements for Live Streaming
If you want to use your camera for live streaming, please update your camera firmware and the Insta360 app to the versions supporting the live streaming feature:
- GO Ultra: Update the camera firmware to v1.2.16 or later, and the Insta360 app to v2.14.0 or later.
- Ace Pro 2: Update the camera firmware to v2.0.17 or later, and the Insta360 app to v2.13.0 or later.
- Ace Pro: Update the camera firmware to v1.0.96 or later, and the Insta360 app to v2.17.0 or later.
Network Configuration
Method 1: Connect the camera to a Wi-Fi network before streaming
- During the network setup in the live stream settings, select or switch to the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to, enter the Wi-Fi password, and tap "Next" to complete the connection.

- If the connection fails, it is recommended to retry or switch to another available network.
Please note:
- GO Ultra only supports 5GHz Wi-Fi. Please ensure you select a 5GHz network.
- Ace Pro and Ace Pro 2 support both 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi bands.
- For a new Wi-Fi connection, the password only needs to be entered for the first time; the system will remember it automatically for subsequent connections.

Method 2: Connect the camera to a mobile hotspot before live streaming
If you need to use your mobile hotspot for live streaming, please ensure that mobile data is enabled on your phone and that you have sufficient data to avoid interruptions.
- Turn on your phone's hotspot and ensure it is discoverable.

- During the network setup in the live stream settings, tap "manually connect" and enter your phone hotspot's name and password.

- Tap "Next" to complete the hotspot connection.
Please note:
- After enabling Wi-Fi on an iOS device, the hotspot may automatically turn off. Please check if the hotspot is still enabled after connecting to the camera.
- GO Ultra only supports 5GHz Wi-Fi. Please ensure you select a 5GHz network.
- Ace Pro and Ace Pro 2 support both 5GHz and 2.4GHz Wi-Fi bands.
- If you are using an Android phone, it is recommended to turn off WLAN. If you are using an iPhone 11 or earlier model, it is recommended to turn off "Maximize Compatibility" to prevent automatic switching to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.

How to start a live stream with a wide-angle camera via the Insta360 app
- Open the Insta360 app, connect to your camera, and tap the "Camera" icon at the bottom to enter the shooting preview screen.

- Tap the "More Modes" (≡) icon in the lower right corner.

- Swipe down to find and select "LIVE" to enter the Live Stream Setting page.

- Select your desired live streaming platform, complete the account authorization, camera network setup, and parameter setting steps in sequence, then you can start the live stream.
Please note: Currently, modifying live stream parameters is not supported. The default parameters are: "Video Specifications: 1080p@30fps", "Stabilization: Standard", and "FOV: MegaView".

I. For Live Streaming Preparations
- How to set up the landscape or portrait mode for live streaming?
Place the camera horizontally (landscape) or vertically (portrait) before starting the live stream in the Insta360 app. The stream will be displayed according to the camera's orientation. Rotating the camera during the live streaming will not automatically switch between the landscape and portrait modes.
- Why is there a delay during live streaming?
It is recommended to switch to a more stable and faster Wi-Fi network, which can effectively reduce latency.
II. Live Streaming Operations
- Does the Insta360 app need to remain in the foreground or background after a live stream is started?
After a live stream is successfully started, the Insta360 app does not need to remain running in the background. You can exit the app to reduce network usage and enhance phone performance.
- Where can I view the real-time image after the live stream starts?
After successfully starting a live stream, you can go to the corresponding live streaming platform to view the real-time image.

Please note: The Insta360 app does not need to remain running in the foreground or background during live streaming.
- Which microphone is used for audio recording during live streaming? Can Wind Reduction be enabled?
The camera's microphone is used by default for live streaming, and it supports the Wind Reduction feature. The audio mode set before starting the live stream will be directly applied during the live streaming.

- How to use an external microphone for audio recording?
Connect the external microphone directly to the camera before live streaming. After completing the audio device settings, you can use the external microphone for audio recording.
- Can I use my phone for audio recording?
No. Audio recording via phone is not supported currently.
- Where can I set up Face Filter for live streaming?
Live streams started with GO Ultra, Ace Pro 2, and Ace Pro via the Insta360 app currently do not support Face Filter settings. We will continuously optimize our products to provide you with a better user experience. Thank you for your understanding and support!
- How to exit or end a live stream?
Once you start a live stream via the Insta360 app, you can only stop the live stream by operating the camera. You can either power off the camera directly or tap the "Stop Live" button on the camera screen.
III. Live Streaming Issues
- How to handle live streaming issues?
- If the prompt "Camera is on a task" appears during live stream setup: Exit the current task on the camera, return to the preview page, and try again.
- If the live stream is abnormally interrupted or the prompt "Live room error" appears: Return to the Insta360 app and restart the live stream.
- If there is high latency or abnormal blurriness during the streaming: It is recommended to switch to a more stable 5GHz Wi-Fi network and try again.
- Why is the image so blurry and laggy during live streaming?
- If the image is clear on the camera but blurry/laggy for viewers, it may be due to transcoding or traffic control implemented by the third-party platform after the stream is pushed to the platform. It is recommended to try again later.
- If the image is blurry on the camera and for viewers, it is recommended to use a more stable 5GHz Wi-Fi network and try again.

1. Which live streaming platforms do GO Ultra, Ace Pro 2, and Ace Pro currently support? Will other platforms be supported in the future?
Currently, Ace Pro 2 and Ace Pro support live streaming on YouTube. We will continuously optimize our products to provide you with a better user experience. Thank you for your understanding and support!
Please note:
- Douyin and Tiktok are completely different platforms.
- GO Ultra, Ace Pro 2, and Ace Pro do not support live streaming on Tiktok currently.
- When will it be possible to customize the live stream parameters (e.g., stabilization, FOV, Filter, EV, etc.)?

- Do wide-angle cameras support HDMI output during live streaming?
Currently, consumer-grade wide-angle cameras (including GO Ultra, Ace Pro 2, and Ace Pro) do not support HDMI output for live streaming.
