Insta360 App: Tracking Feature

Applicable Models: ONE X, X2, X3, X4, X4 Air, X5, ONE R, and ONE RS

The Tracking feature is a commonly used function for editing 360 videos. It automatically locks onto a target (person, vehicle, animal, building, etc.) in the frame by selecting it, keeping the target centered in the video, and allowing for quick editing. Please note that this feature is not supported in the Single-Lens Mode on 360 cameras.

How to use the Tracking feature

Method 1: Via the Player page

Open the Insta360 app, tap "Album" at the bottom, and select your desired media to enter the Player page.

FAQ

1. Which types of media support the Tracking feature?

Media shot in all 360 video modes except the Single-Lens Mode (e.g., Me Mode), Bullet Time, and Timelapse supports the Tracking feature.

2. Are there limits to the tracking distance and speed?

The tracking effectiveness is influenced by factors such as the target's size, speed of movement, and obstructions. It is recommended that you flexibly adjust the shooting distance and angle based on the on-site conditions to keep the target clear at all times.

3. Can the Tracking feature be used together with keyframes or camera movement templates?

No, they cannot be used simultaneously. Both features edit the angle of view, and their effects cannot be stacked.

4. Why can't I find the Tracking feature for my recorded video, or why is it unavailable?

If you cannot find the Tracking feature, or it's unavailable, please check the following first:

  • Confirm that you shot a 360 video. The Tracking feature currently only supports 360 videos.
  • Check if you used the "Bullet Time" or "Timelapse" mode while shooting. The Tracking feature is currently unavailable for media shot in these modes.
  • Ensure the Insta360 app is updated to the latest version. To update the app, search for "Insta360" in Apple App Store or your device's app store. If an "Update" button appears, tap it to update. Alternatively, you can visit the Insta360 Website to download the latest version of the Insta360 app.
