The Record feature allows you to edit 360 videos as easily as playing a game. By rotating your phone or using the on-screen joystick to control the viewing direction and adjusting the zoom level in real-time, you can directly generate flat videos suitable for sharing. Please note that this feature is not supported in Single-Lens Mode on 360 cameras.

How to use the Record feature

  • Method 1: Open the Player page in Album > tap "Record" (Supports recording multiple clips)

  • Method 3: Open the "Edit" page > tap "Create a Video" > select your desired clip, and tap "360 Reframe" > tap "Record" (Supports recording multiple clips)

FAQ

1. What are the requirements for using the Record feature?
  • Only 360 videos shot in Video / Active HDR / Timelapse modes with X5, X4, X3, X2, or ONE X cameras are supported for this feature.
  • Additionally, the Insta360 app version must be higher than v1.61.0.

Please note: Videos shot in Bullet Time / Loop Recording / TimeShift modes are not supported for the "Record" feature.

2. What is the maximum resolution for videos exported via the Record feature?

It supports up to 4K resolution, and you can customize parameters in the export panel.

3. Is there a time limit for the Record feature?

There is no time limit in Insta360 app v2.3.0 and later. Please update the Insta360 app to the latest version for this experience.

4. Can I record multiple clips?

Yes, in the Insta360 app v2.4.0 and later, you can record multiple clips via the Record feature, accessible from either the Player or Editor page. Please update the Insta360 app to the latest version for this experience.

5. What are the requirements for using Quick Export and Smoothing?
  • Insta360 app v2.5.0 or later
  • Videos must contain a LRV file (excluding 8K or cloud media)
  • For iOS devices, an iPhone 8 or later model is required

Please note: After the recording is completed, if you select Custom Export, the Smoothing effect is applied by default to the final video, hence there is no separate Smoothing option on the page.

6. Which devices are compatible with the Record feature?
  • iOS:
    • iPhone models with A11 chipset or later (iPhone 8 or later)
    • iPad models with M1 chipset
  • Android:
    • Devices with Kirin 990 chipset or later (e.g., Huawei Mate 30 or later)
    • Devices with Snapdragon 855 chipset or later (e.g., Google Pixel 4 / Xiaomi Mi 9 or later)
    • Devices with Samsung Exynos 990 chipset or later (e.g., Samsung Galaxy S20 or later)

Please note: The Record feature will not be displayed on incompatible phones.
