When editing media in the Insta360 app, you can use the "Plate Blur" feature to blur license plates of yourself, friends, or bystanders. This allows you to create content freely while protecting everyone's privacy.
How to enable Plate Blur
Before using this feature, please ensure your Insta360 app is updated to v1.77.0 or later.
Method 1: Enable in the playback page
360 media
On the album playback page in the Insta360 app, tap "Editor" > "Frame Cut" > "Confirm clip" > "Edit and Export" > "Go to more edits" > "Edit" > "Plate Blur".

Flat media
On the album playback page, tap "Editor" > "Edit" > "Plate Blur".

Method 2: Enable in the Edit page
- Open the Insta360 app, tap "Edit" > "Create a Video", then select your desired media and enter the Edit page.
- Tap "Edit" > "Plate Blur".

Please note:
- The "Plate Blur" feature is supported for both flat videos and 360 videos.
- Due to performance limitations of some mobile devices, you may not be able to use editing features including "Plate Blur" when editing media with a resolution of 8K or higher.
- In scenarios such as group cycling or street photography, the license plates of your friends and bystanders can also be recognized and blurred. However, if the license plates are too small, blurry, or severely distorted, the blurring effect may not be optimal.
- When using a selfie stick attached via a U-Bolt Mount, the license plate blur effect is better (as shown in the picture).

FAQ
1. Why is the plate blur effect sometimes unsatisfactory (e.g. misidentification of the rear-view mirror or motorcycle trunk number)?
The Plate Blur feature is mainly designed to protect the privacy of the shooter's own license plate in scenarios where a selfie stick is attached via a U-Bolt Mount. Passing cars may not be accurately identified due to their small size / off-center angle in the frame. We will forward your feedback to the product team and continue to optimize our products to provide you with an improved user experience. Thank you for your understanding and support!
2. Why do the edges of the blur experience jittering when the Plate Blur feature is enabled?
This situation occurs because there are tiny differences in the edges of each frame during motion, leading to edge jittering. We will forward your feedback to the product team and continue to optimize our products to provide you with an improved user experience. Thank you for your understanding and support!
3. Why is there no plate blur effect when previewing videos in the Insta360 app after enabling it?
- If you are using an Android phone, due to system compatibility issues, the plate blur effect in the Insta360 app for Android only takes effect after the video is exported. To check the blur effect, please export the video first.
- If you are using an iPhone, please contact Insta360 Customer Support for assistance.
