What is the Memories feature

The Memories feature is a fully automated video editing feature, similar to "Memories" in the Apple Photos app. It intelligently selects your media files, edits them, and creates a story-driven short video for you.

FAQ

1. What is the difference between the Memories and "Auto Edit" features in the Insta360 app?

Memories: Automatically analyzes media, edits media, and pushes the finished video to you, requiring no manual operation.

Auto Edit: Requires manual import and export of media.

2. Which media types and camera models does the Memories feature support?

Supported media: Only supports flat images and flat videos (360 media is not supported).

Supported camera models: Supports all officially released Insta360 camera models.

Please note: Media shot with the Flow Series gimbals does not support automatic generation; you need to manually create a memory.

3. What media types are not supported by the Memories feature?

Unsupported video media types: 360 videos, media shot in the Pureshot Mode, 8K media or high-frame-rate media at 60fps and above, slow-motion media, and FreeFrame video media that is 20 minutes or longer.

Please note: Support for FreeFrame videos that are 20 minutes or longer varies across different phone models.

  • iOS device: All iPhone models do not support automatic analysis of FreeFrame videos with a duration of 20 minutes or longer. To enable this feature, you can enable the "Performance Mode" in the Insta360 app's "Settings".
  • Android device: Phones with RAM less than or equal to 4GB do not support automatic analysis of such videos.

4. When does the Insta360 app push a memory to me? Why haven't I received a pushed memory video?

The Memories feature relies on complex algorithms to analyze and evaluate your media. The background processing in the Insta360 app requires time, and it will only push the result to you after analysis is completed. The specific duration of this process is affected by the amount, length, and type of media, as well as your phone's performance.

If a memory is not generated or its generation is delayed, you can also manually create one.

If you haven't received a pushed memory, you can check the following:

  • Check the media type: Ensure your media is not listed in the unsupported media types, namely 360 videos, media shot in the Pureshot Mode, 8K media or high-frame-rate media at 60fps and above, slow-motion media, and FreeFrame video media that is 20 minutes or longer.
  • Keep the Insta360 app running in the foreground: While waiting for generation, please try to stay on the Memories page in the Insta360 app, and avoid switching to other apps or performing other operations if possible to prevent interrupting the analysis process. If it's still not generated after waiting, it is recommended to manually create a memory.
  • Confirm if the media is shot with an Ace Series camera: If you are using an Ace or Ace Pro camera, please enable "AI Highlights Assistant" in the camera's drop-down menu to accelerate processing through in-camera analysis. If this feature is not enabled or other camera models are used, the analysis time will be extended accordingly.
  • Confirm if the media is shot with a Flow Series gimbal: Media shot with Flow Series gimbals currently does not support automatic analysis and pushing; you need to create a memory manually.

5. If the "AI Highlights Assistant" is not enabled on an Ace series camera, will the Insta360 app still perform background analysis and push memories?

Yes. Enabling "AI Highlights Assistant" will start in-camera analysis, reducing analysis time. Even if this feature is not enabled, the Insta360 app will still perform background analysis and push memories. If a memory is not generated or its generation is delayed, you can also manually create one.

6. When are memories updated? Are memories updated daily or can multiple memories be pushed?

If you have already received a pushed memory and shoot more media later, the Insta360 app will not push a second one. Instead, it allows you to "update" the existing memory or "Save as a new memory" based on the original one.

7. How many videos can I add when manually creating a memory?

Currently, you can add a maximum of 30 videos when manually creating a memory.

8. Why can't my Interval media generate a memory?

Interval media must meet one of the following conditions to generate a memory:

  • If the media consists of 1 or 2 clips: The total duration must exceed 60 seconds.
  • If the media consists of 3 or more clips: The total duration is not limited, and a memory can be generated directly for the media.
