FAQ

1. Why can't I find the "AI Edit" feature?

To reduce the difficulty in editing, the Insta360 app v2.3.0 has merged "AI Edit" and "Auto Edit" into one, uniformly named "Auto Edit", with the algorithm upgraded. The new version focuses on five core modules (smart framing, precise clip selection, 360° camera movement, scene recognition, and music matching) for better results, including:

  • The APEI algorithm can improve framing effects and make camera movements more focused and smoother.
  • It can more accurately identify highlight clips and reduce repetitive or unwanted clips.
  • It increases the accuracy of music matching and makes the music library more extensive.
  • It intelligently edits media based on specific scenes to create a video style that better fits the scene.

2. Is there a difference between the "Auto Edit" options accessed from different entry points?

Yes, mainly in terms of the media processing capability:

  • Player page: Only supports analyzing single media; does not support multi-media editing. Furthermore, camera movement templates cannot be modified in Insta360 app v2.3.0 or later.
  • Edit page/Album page: Supports multi-media editing combining 360° and flat media from the camera, Insta360 app album, and phone album.

3. What is the maximum media duration supported for "Auto Edit" in the Insta360 app?

You can select up to 100 media files simultaneously. The total duration limit depends on two scenarios:

  • When using a device with adequate performance: Up to 60 minutes in total (e.g., iPhone 12 & later models; Android devices with Snapdragon 8/888/778G+ or MediaTek Dimensity 8250 chipsets).
  • When using other devices: Total media length should be under 20 minutes.

4. Can I modify the final video length in "Auto Edit"?

Yes. In Insta360 app v2.3.0 or later, you can manually adjust the final video length. Generally, the maximum duration of the first video is 3 minutes (if more media is added during the re-analysis, it may exceed 3 minutes).

Please note: The available duration options are generated by the algorithm based on the highlight clips it identifies. The selectable duration range will not be longer than the duration of the highlights. For example, if the algorithm finds only 1-2 minutes of usable highlight clips in 5-minute media, the option of "2-3 minutes" will not be available.

5. Why is the "Auto Edit" feature in the Insta360 app analyzing very slowly?

The analysis time for the "Auto Edit" feature is affected by device performance, total media duration, and video scene complexity. Please be patient. If it takes excessive time, please contact Insta360 Customer Support for assistance.

6. Are there specific restrictions on media for the "Auto Edit" feature? / What are the media requirements for "Auto Edit"? / What types of media cannot be used with "Auto Edit"?

In Insta360 app v2.4.0 or later, different entry points of the "Auto Edit" feature support different types of media, and some types are not supported:

  • Player page: Supports 360° media and cloud media. However, the following types of media are currently not supported:
    • 360° media: Interval photos; Burst photos; videos shorter than 4 seconds; TimeShift and Starlapse videos
  • Edit page / Album page: Supports both 360° and flat media and cloud media. However, the following types of media are not supported:
    • 360° media: Interval and Burst photos; videos shorter than 4 seconds; Starlapse videos.
    • Flat media: Interval and Burst photos; videos shorter than 2 seconds; Single-lens Me Mode videos shot with 360 cameras and Starlapse videos.
    •  Special media: Live photos (You can choose live photos, but when the final video is made, only the first frame will be taken, and the effect will be the same as that of normal images).

7. Does Auto Edit in the latest version of the app support the analysis of cropped/trimmed clips?

Yes.

8. In previous versions of the app, the "Auto Edit" page had an option to skip the analysis (for Android devices only). Can I skip the analysis process in the new version? / Does it support skipping the analysis process in the "Auto Edit" feature?

To ensure video quality, skipping the analysis process is not supported in the new version. Thank you for your understanding.

9. Does "Auto Edit" support adding new clips for analysis after the initial analysis is complete?

Yes. Starting from v2.6.0, the Insta360 app allows you to add new media after the analysis is complete. The system will then re-analyze all media and generate a new video.

10. Can I turn off the background music in "Auto Edit"?

Yes. You can navigate to "Edit Clip > Go to More Edits > tap on the audio track > tap the Delete icon" to turn off the background music.
