Ace Series: Poor Stabilization Effect / Stabilization Abnormalities
Ace Series: Poor Stabilization Effect / Stabilization Abnormalities
Applicable Models: Ace, Ace Pro, and Ace Pro 2
Description
When using the camera for recording, the captured footage appears shaky, exhibits unsatisfactory stabilization, or shows stabilization abnormalities.
Solution
Scenario 1: Intense motion (e.g., cycling and skiing)
If unstable footage occurs during intense motion, it may be due to significant camera rotation or shaking, leaving insufficient image crop margin for effective stabilization. In this case, you can try the following optimizations:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the camera screen to access the Shooting Parameters menu and set Stabilization to "High".
- When shooting specific action scenes like cycling or skiing, select the corresponding mode from the camera's Preset Modes menu. The system will automatically adjust to the optimal shooting parameters for that specific scene.
Scenario 2: Non-intense motion (e.g., walking)
When shooting at high resolutions or high frame rates, the increased detail and pixel count require more crop margin for image stabilization, which may affect the stabilization effect. In this case, you can try the following optimizations:
- Swipe up from the bottom of the camera screen to enter the Parameters menu and set Stabilization to "High".
- Appropriately reduce the resolution or frame rate (e.g., select 4K@60fps).
Scenario 3: Shooting with an ND filter attached
When shooting with an ND filter attached, you can set the camera to a slower shutter speed to create motion blur effects, but this may affect the camera's stabilization effect. In this case, you can try the following optimizations:
- Mode adjustment:
- Swipe left from the right edge of the camera screen to access the Parameter Settings and select the Auto Exposure mode. The camera will automatically optimize the shutter speed and exposure values.
- If using the Manual Exposure mode, try appropriately increasing the shutter speed.
- Stabilization adjustment: Swipe up from the bottom of the camera screen to enter the Parameters menu and set Stabilization to "High" for improved stability.
- Post-production adjustment:
- Add ND filter effects during post-production using the Insta360 app to enhance the motion blur effect;
- Shoot using the FreeFrame Video Mode. During export, the software will automatically apply FlowState Stabilization by default, which can effectively improve footage stability.
