Ace Series: Check and Update Firmware Version
Applicable Models: Ace, Ace Pro, and Ace Pro 2
Firmware updates are crucial for enhancing camera performance and refining features. The instructions below detail how to check and update the current firmware version of your camera.
Instructions
Check the current firmware version
Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > tap "Settings" (Gear icon ⚙) > tap "Camera Info" > find and check "Camera Firmware Version".
Find the latest available firmware version
Method 1: Via the Insta360 website
Go to Insta360 Downloads, select your camera model, and scroll down to the "Insta360 xx Firmware" section to check the latest firmware version available for your camera.
Method 2: Via the Insta360 app
- Connect your camera to the Insta360 app.

- In the Insta360 app, tap "Me" > scroll down to "Device Settings" > "Firmware Version".
- If there is no red dot next to the firmware version number, your camera is up-to-date.
- If a red dot is present, tap it and follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.
Update firmware
Method 1: Via the Insta360 app
- Ensure your camera battery level is above 25%, and the SD card is inserted and can be recognized correctly.
- Open the Insta360 app with the camera connected. If a new firmware version is available, a pop-up notification will appear automatically in the app.
- Tap "Download now". The system will automatically download and install the firmware update.

Please note:
- Keep the camera and phone close to each other during the update and ensure a stable Internet connection on the phone.
- Keep the Insta360 app running in the foreground; do not exit or minimize the app.
Method 2: Via PC
- Ensure your camera battery level is above 25%, and the SD card is inserted and can be recognized correctly.
- Connect the camera to PC using the USB cable supplied with the camera. On the camera screen, select "U-Disk Mode".
- Go to the Insta360 website, find and download the latest firmware update available for your camera to the PC.
- Copy the downloaded update file "Insta360AceFW.pkg" directly to the root directory of the camera's memory card. Do not rename the file.
- Disconnect the camera from the PC. The camera will then power off automatically.
- Manually restart the camera. The indicator light will blink blue (indicating the update is in progress). The camera will restart automatically once the update is completed.
