FAQ

1. How to find the Grip's serial number?

You can find the Grip's serial number through the following two methods:

Method 1: Check the serial number (SN) sticker located on the outer surface of the Grip or on the inside of the frame.

Method 2: Connect the Grip to a camera, then check the serial number on the Xplorer Grip Settings page.

2. What is the charging sequence when an external power source / charger is connected to the Grip?

The charging logic depends on whether the "Power the camera" feature is enabled:

  • If you disable the feature: The external power source only charges the Grip.
  • If you enable the feature: When an external power source is connected, it will first check the remaining battery level of the Grip.
    • When the battery level is 15% or above, the external power source will charge the camera first. After the camera is fully charged, it will then charge the Grip.
    • When the battery level is less than 15%, the external power source will first charge the Grip to 15%, then charge the camera.

3. What is the difference between "2.0×" and "2.0HD" when zooming with the Grip's Zoom Knob?

2.0×: This is digital zoom, and the image will be somewhat compressed.

2.0HD: This is clarity zoom, which maximally preserves image clarity and detail.

4. Is it normal for the image to stutter slightly when switching from "2.0×" to "2.0HD"?

This is normal. The two zoom modes use different algorithms. When switching, the camera briefly interrupts the information stream and generates slight vibration feedback, similar to the visual jump when switching between different lenses on a smartphone. This does not affect the actual shooting results. Please use it with confidence.

5. Will the camera battery drain faster when the Grip is connected?

No. Connecting a camera to the Grip does not increase the camera's own power consumption rate. If you enable the Grip's "Power the camera" feature, the camera will prioritize using the grip's battery, which can further extend its overall runtime.

6. Can the Grip charge a mobile phone?

The Grip's Type-C plug is specially designed and not compatible with the Type-C port on a mobile phone, so it cannot charge a mobile phone.

7. Why doesn't the zoom happen immediately / why is there a delay after turning the Zoom Knob?

This design is used to distinguish the intent for zooming:

  • If you turn the Zoom Knob for less than 0.5 seconds: The system recognizes it as quick zoom and will execute the action immediately.
  • If you turn the Zoom Knob for more than 0.5 seconds: The system recognizes it as smooth, continuous zoom, and will execute the action gradually.

8. Why is there no response when I short press the shutter button on the Grip while the camera is off?

This is a feature designed to prevent accidental activation during storage. When the camera is powered off, you must first enable "QuickCapture" in camera's Shortcut menu, and press and hold the shutter button on the Grip. The camera will then begin quick capture or power on. Short-pressing the shutter button, or turning the Dial or Zoom Knob will not trigger any response to avoid unintended operations.
