Ace Series: Black Bars, Flickering Effect, or Moiré Patterns in Footage
Ace Series: Black Bars, Flickering Effect, or Moiré Patterns in Footage
Applicable Models: Ace, Ace Pro, and Ace Pro 2
Scenario 1: Flickering or black bars appear on displays or lights in footage
Description
- Flickering occurs when recording light sources.

- Black bars appear when recording displays.

Reason
When the "Low Light Stabilization" or "Jitter Blur Reduction" feature is enabled, the camera automatically increases the capture speed to obtain clearer motion footage. This may temporarily desynchronize it from the flicker frequency of lights or displays, causing flickering or black bars.
Solution
For non-nighttime motion scene shooting
- Disable the "Low Light Stabilization" or "Jitter Blur Reduction" feature.
- Adjust the "Anti-Flicker" settings according to the ambient light frequency (i.e., the local mains power frequency): Swipe down from the top of the screen to access the "Shortcut" menu > tap "Settings" > find "Anti-Flicker" and select the frequency based on your region:
- 50Hz for most of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
- 60Hz for the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, etc.
For nighttime motion scene shooting
If you need to enable the "Low Light Stabilization" or "Jitter Blur Reduction" feature for nighttime motion scenes, adjust the frame rate or shutter speed according to the ambient light frequency:
- 50Hz (Most of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia): Set the frame rate to 25fps, 50fps, or 100fps.
- 60Hz (the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, etc.): Set the frame rate to 30fps, 60fps, or 120fps.
Scenario 2: Banded shadows or alternating bright/dark stripes in footage
Description
Moving shadows or alternating bright/dark stripes may appear when certain LED lights of specific frequency are present in the scene.

Reason
As the top and bottom of the camera sensor are exposed at slightly different times, the brightness/color at the top and bottom of the frame can vary. When the ambient light source is a high-frequency flickering LED, or when the camera's photo-sensing process is relatively slow, different parts of the frame capture different light intensities, manifesting as banded shadows.
Solution
You can adjust the camera's frame rate setting based on your local AC power frequency:
- 50Hz (Most of Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia): Set the frame rate to 30fps, 60fps, or 120fps.
- 60Hz (the USA, Canada, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, etc.): Set the frame rate to 25fps, 50fps, or 100fps.
Scenario 3: Moiré patterns appear in the footage
Description
When shooting objects or buildings with horizontal or vertical stripe patterns, irregular, wavy colored moiré patterns or stripes may appear in the photo or video.

Reason
Moiré patterns may occur when the camera captures objects or buildings with dense stripe patterns. These patterns can interfere with the camera's sensor, resulting in the moiré effect.
Solution
- Increase shutter speed: Swipe left from the right edge of the touchscreen to access Exposure Settings. Select "Manual(M)", tap the "Shutter" icon, and adjust the shutter speed to a faster value.
- Reduce sharpness: Swipe left from the right edge of the camera screen to access Exposure Settings. Select "Sharpness" (Triangle icon) and adjust it to a lower value.
