Ace Series: Format Memory Card

Applicable Models: Ace, Ace Pro, and Ace Pro 2

Regularly formatting your memory card helps improve camera performance and prevent storage errors. This article describes three methods for formatting the camera's memory card. Please note, formatting will erase all data on the card, so it is recommended to back up important files before proceeding.

Instructions

Method 1: Formatting via the camera
  1. Insert the memory card into the camera.
  2. Swipe down from the top of the camera screen to access the "Shortcut" menu, then tap "Settings" (⚙ icon).
  3. Select "SD Card", then tap "Format" and confirm.

Method 2: Formatting via the Insta360 app
  1. Connect the camera to the Insta360 app.
  2. In the Insta360 app, tap "Me" > scroll down to "Device Settings".
  3. Tap "Camera Storage", then tap "Format" and confirm.

Method 3: Formatting via PC
  • Windows:
    • Connect the camera to the PC using the USB cable and select "U-Disk Mode" on the camera.
    • Open "This PC" > right-click on the "Camera U-Disk" > select "Format".
    • Set the File System to "exFAT" and the Allocation Unit Size to "128KB", then click "Start".

Please note: Please do not check the "Quick Format" option.

  • Mac:
    • Connect the camera to the PC using the USB cable and select "U-Disk Mode" on the camera.
    • Open "Applications" > open the "Utilities" folder > click "Disk Utility".
    • In the left sidebar, select the camera U-Disk (typically displayed as an external storage device), then click the "Erase" button at the top of the window.
    • Set the Format to "exFAT" and the Scheme to "GUID Partition Map", then click "Erase". Eject the U-Disk safely after the process completes.
