Q3 How do I update my Ace/Ace Pro's firmware?

Make sure you have the latest firmware so your Ace/Ace Pro runs in optimal condition at all times. There are two ways to update Ace/Ace Pro firmware: Insta360 app or camera memory card.

Note: Please make sure the camera is charged to at least 20% before updating the firmware.

  • Method 1: Update via Insta360 App

First, make sure you are using the latest app version. Head to the Settings tab and choose "About Insta360". If a new version is available, you'll see a prompt on the phone screen.

    Steps:

    1. Connect Ace/Ace Pro to the Insta360 app. If there is a new firmware version available, the app will prompt an update. Just follow the interface prompts to complete the update.
    2. If you do not receive the update prompt, you can visit the Settings tab > "Firmware Version" to check for a new firmware update.
    3. Verify the firmware version. After the update is complete, you can check the firmware version in two ways:
      1. Swipe down on the Ace/Ace Pro touchscreen to access the Shortcut menu, then go to "⚙" > "Camera Info" to check the firmware version.
      2. Enter the Settings tab in the Insta360 app with the camera connected.
  • Method 2: Update via Camera Memory Card

    Steps:

    1. Visit the Insta360 Ace/Ace Pro downloads page, find the Ace/Ace Pro camera firmware, and click "DOWNLOAD".
      1. Turn on the Ace/Ace Pro, slide down from the top of the screen, tap the settings icon "⚙" > "USB Mode" > "U Disk Mode".
      2. Connect Ace/Ace Pro to a computer with the included USB-C cable.
      3. Copy the Insta360AceFW.pkg (Insta360AceProFW.pkg) file to your Ace/Ace Pro directly, rather than to a specific folder on Ace/Ace Pro's microSD card. Note: Please make sure you delete the old firmware .pkg file and keep the file name of the newly downloaded firmware unchanged. Otherwise, the system might not be able to identify the new firmware, which will cause issues when updating.
      4. Disconnect the camera from the computer, and the Ace/Ace Pro will automatically shut down. Press the power button to turn it. The camera will recognize the firmware and begin the update automatically. The screen will turn off and the indicator light will show solid blue. After the camera's firmware is updated, it will automatically restart.
      5. After the update is complete, swipe down on the Ace/Ace Pro touchscreen to access the Shortcut menu, then go to "Camera Info" to check the firmware version.

Q4 How can I turn off Ace/Ace Pro's touchscreen?

Ace has the option to turn off the screen by pressing the power button once. Ace Pro only supports auto shut-off. You can configure this in the camera's settings.
