Ace Series: Firmware Update Failed via Insta360 App or PC
Applicable Models: Ace, Ace Pro, and Ace Pro 2
Scenario 1: Firmware update failed via the Insta360 app
If the firmware update is interrupted, won't start, or prompts a failure when using the Insta360 app, please check the following first:
- Verify the Insta360 app version: Check if the Insta360 app is updated to the latest version. If not, please update it via your app store.
- Check network status: Make sure your phone has a stable network connection. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile networks, then attempt to update again.
- Restart devices: Restart both the Insta360 app and the camera, reconnect them, and try the firmware update again.
- Try updating via PC:
- If the issue persists after the above checks, please visit the Insta360 website, and select your camera model to download the "Camera Firmware" file (ensure the file name retains its original format, e.g., Insta360AceFW.bin, without suffixes like "(1)").
- Connect the camera to a PC and copy the downloaded firmware file to the root directory of the camera's storage.
- After disconnection, the message automatically appears on the screen to prompt you to start the firmware update.
Scenario 2: Firmware update failed via PC
If the camera does not start the update normally or fails to update after transferring the firmware file via PC, try the following steps:
- Check for firmware location: Ensure the firmware file is placed in the root directory of the memory card.
- Verify filename: Ensure the file name retains its original format (e.g., Insta360AceFW.bin or Insta360AceProFW.pkg) and has no suffixes like "(1)".
- Check camera battery level: Ensure the battery level is above 30%.
- Try updating via the Insta360 app: If the update still fails after the steps above, try updating via the Insta360 app. Upon successful connection, the app should automatically prompt you with the latest firmware information; simply follow the on-screen instructions.
